In the mid-1900s (as they do today), many manufacturers split their product lines into several "tiers" of companies to reserve the parent company's name for their most prestigious products. Baldwin was no exception, utilizing the Howard brand name for their mid-tier lines -- produced in the same factory at their namebrand Baldwin counterparts. Today, these pianos do not hold the brand recognition they once did, but retain much of the quality and workmanship of the parent company. According, this mahogany-finished Howard spinet is very reminiscent of the famed Baldwin Acrosonic, and is a good quality instrument suitable for for beginners or for a smaller home piano.
